I have been known to be a geeky type, but now I have decided to come out of the dude closet. I have spent more than a few hours on line using my geekiness and access to OPEN SOURCE video and audio editing programs and hopefully will bring some cheer to a select few. I have so much enjoyed being a part of the Quarrymen and really feel a part of something unique that also sounds beautiful and melodious.
Our Navy band concert will definitely go down as my singing highlight of the year and here is where where I introduce my advetures in OPen Source.
If this does not make any sense , don't worry, some things are better left un-understood.
First thing I have done was to copy the audio from the video and now have each song copied minus all the jabbering ,sorry James. And the harty applause. Eah song is in MP3 format which should be playable on most cd players, ipods, dvd players and even car stereo.
I hope to post all these songs in a format of choice complete free to download, copy or distribute. Or even listen privately for hours on end.
A small selection is attached to this now email/blogpost.
The next step is bringing the outer ring into the inside. Many of our Qaurrymen do not have valid email addresses and this came as a surprise to me. I have made songs playable on cellphones as well and have copied some of them into ringtones. The next and last project for 2009 is to convert some of the pictures into a format to be used on cellphones as a wallpaper and the like.
With these thoughts I wish you all a happy ,safe and melodious festive season.

Introduction to me and my lists...still have a lisp too

I love list and bought a book of list a while which featured all kinds of mainly useless list.
I have now read many more books about list and even more blog and now have this burning desire to put our some list of my own.
Some random others critical ,but a list they will be. I know this list idea is great and needs more thought, but I am caught up in another tab building a playlist.
I hope to run this ongoing blog plugged into my brain with topis flowing dealing with things i love in no particular order:
- Coffee: Every time I find an really nice coffee shop ..it closes down.
- Chilli: I enjoy things hot ,but enjoy selling it more. Woulf like to generate some business here by plugging the Mystic Chilli report.
- Chilling: The goal is to be mellow until I die. Nothing heavy, everything light and breazy.
- Music...yeah. I have songs and artist coming out of my ears. Some with crazy names: Incedible Hand clapping Band...others whose voices caress you gently.
- Fire Fox app or add one ,plug ins. YES , i'll admit to being a geek and need a place to list all my thoughts about all things free and open. I am a born-again freedom loving OPEN SOURCE evangelist and have tons of stuff just waiting to be released from the inner recesses of what is my brain.
- South African ISP's and the shit they make punters believe. This list has five entries and tI have broadband accounts with ALL of them. If anyone wants to know how you being ripped off for broadband, read on. Webafrica,Afrihost,Telkom. There may also be leader board, so that I don't have to do this over the phone no more.
- Top 10 pics of my kids..this ones going to be kewl.
- Ten things I hate about Face Book
- Ten or downs load for unbuntu9.04 (Lifehacker)
Playlist for 2009: a work in progress. These are songs and artist that I have discovered this year, mainly from hours and hours of NPR podcast i listen to almost daily.
Podcasts I love:
- All songs considered NPR : Host Bob Boilen and producer Robin Hilton offer a behind-the-scenes look at the show and what's spinning in their CD players.
- Fresh air NPR: Fresh Air with Terry Gross, the Peabody Award-winning weekday magazine of contemporary arts and issues, is one of public radio's most popular programs. Each week, nearly 4.5 million people listen to the show's intimate conversations broadcast on more than 450 National Public Radio (NPR) stations across the country, as well as in Europe on the World Radio Network.http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=13
- BBC Newspod: My daily news fix.Daily programme highlights from BBC Radio News. Interviews and reports from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 live, the BBC Asian Network and the BBC World Service. As part of a short trial, episodes of this podcast will be available until the end of December 2009. Until then will have to find another pod.
- Linux Outlaws: This show could go for more than an hour, but its well worth the megs and jabbering.
